Factchecking Tracker is a dedicated platform created by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) in collaboration with the Daily Manabzamin to combat the pervasive challenge of misinformation in Bangladesh. As a key initiative under the “Defending Digital Spaces and Uniting Against Misinformation in Bangladesh “project, it serves as a comprehensive watchdog for identifying, analyzing, and addressing false information across digital and traditional media.
With a focus on transparency and reliability, Factchecking Tracker aggregates verified data from multiple trusted fact-checking organizations, including those affiliated with the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). By centralizing information, it provides users with an accessible resource to understand the origins, trends, and impacts of misinformation.
The platform categorizes misinformation by themes such as politics, religion, health, and entertainment, offering an in-depth analysis of its spread and patterns. It empowers users—journalists, researchers, civil society members, and the general public—with tools to detect and counter false narratives effectively.
Managed by a dedicated team of researchers and experienced fact-checkers, Factchecking Tracker is updated regularly to ensure the accuracy and relevance of its content. Its user-friendly interface enables intuitive navigation, making it a go-to resource for those seeking to uphold truth and accountability in information dissemination.
This initiative is part of a 12-month project jointly implemented by CGS and Daily Manabzamin with the generous support of Free Press Unlimited and Article 19. The project aims to defend digital spaces and promote public resilience against misinformation through research, capacity-building workshops, and the establishment of this platform. Factchecking Tracker embodies the project’s commitment to fostering transparency, empowering communities, and strengthening democratic institutions in Bangladesh.
