Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan did not comment that “only a military-led government can save the country from destruction,” as claimed in a fabricated photo card shared under the name “Face the People.”

Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan did not comment that “only a military-led government can save the country from destruction,” as claimed in a fabricated photo card shared under the name “Face the People.” Recently, a photo card carrying the logo of the online news platform “Face the People News” was circulated on social media, bearing the headline: “Dr. Yunus has done the right thing by preparing to leave the country; only a military-led government can save Bangladesh from destruction; everyone should be prepared for a military coup.”

Fact Check

An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team reveals that no such news or photo card with the mentioned headline was published by Face the People. Rather, the claim is being spread using a manipulated image that imitates the platform’s design with the help of digital tools. The fake card in question bears the Face the People News logo and is dated May 23, 2025. Based on this information, a review of recent photo cards published on the official Facebook page of Face the People found no content matching the alleged headline. Furthermore, no report or information related to the claim was found on the media outlet’s website.

Additionally, a comparison between the fake card and authentic materials from Face the People shows notable differences in font and color grading, indicating a mismatch with the platform’s standard design. When contacted, the editor-in-chief of Face the People, Saifur Sagar, confirmed to Rumor Scanner that the outlet did not publish any such news or photo card.

Therefore, it is evident that the circulated image was fabricated by imitating the design of Face the People’s photo cards.

Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan regularly shares posts on various issues from his personal Facebook account. On May 23, he posted: “We do not want a repetition of 1/11. The military was severely affected by such unconstitutional activities in the past. It would be unwise to invite further hardship.” This statement has also been reported in the media. However, no post or comment matching the viral claim was found on his Facebook account. Nor was any report found in domestic media sources that would support the claim.

Thus, the photo card disseminated under the headline “Dr. Yunus has done the right thing by preparing to leave the country; only a military-led government can save Bangladesh from destruction; everyone should be prepared for a military coup,” under the name Face the People, is false and fabricated.
