A fabricated screenshot has been circulated claiming that former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media expressing frustration toward Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A fabricated screenshot has been circulated claiming that former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media expressing frustration toward Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The alleged post was reportedly in response to Trump’s announcement on July 30 of a 25% tariff on Indian goods. Several domestic media outlets published reports citing a social media post in which Trump allegedly criticized Modi for remaining silent following the tariff declaration. According to these reports, the supposed post stated: “I can't believe Prime Minister Modi has yet to respond to my tweet, statement, or comments on tariffs. We've given India major deals and defense assistance, yet he remains completely silent. Not even a thank you. Don’t forget, I’m the one who forced India and Pakistan to agree to a ceasefire. No one else could have done it. Many said I deserved a Nobel Prize for that. American workers are suffering while India benefits from the start. I’ve always liked Modi. But this kind of disrespect is unacceptable. Bad for business. Bad for friendship.”

Fact-Check

An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found the claim that Donald Trump posted such a statement expressing anger toward India to be false. The viral post was fabricated using digital editing tools and does not reflect any actual statement made by Trump on social media. The screenshot, which circulated widely online and was cited in several media reports, was falsely attributed to Trump’s Truth Social account.

Using keyword searches, the team located the viral screenshot claimed to be from Trump’s Truth Social profile. However, upon reviewing the actual Truth Social account, no such post was found. Additionally, no credible sources reported any such statement by Trump. This indicates that an original post from Trump’s account was digitally altered to create the misleading content.

Furthermore, the screenshot was tested using the Fake Image Detector, a platform used to verify the authenticity of digital images. The result confirmed that the image had been artificially generated or edited with the help of computer software.

In conclusion, domestic media reports were based on a fake screenshot circulated on social media. The claim that Donald Trump posted in frustration over Modi’s silence following the 25% tariff on Indian goods is false, and the screenshot used to support this claim is fabricated.
