On August 5, a video claiming to show a statement by the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman was circulated on social media. In the video, the Chief of Army Staff is heard saying, “Today, August 5, on the occasion of Police Killing Day, I offer my deepest respect to all the martyred police brothers.”
Fact-check
Upon investigation by the Rumor Scanner team, it was found that the video, which allegedly shows the army chief paying tribute to the martyred police on “Police Killing Day,” is not genuine. Instead, the video has been fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
No credible media outlet or reliable source has reported the existence of such a statement. In reality, had General Waker-Uz-Zaman made such a remark, it would have been broadcast by mainstream media.
Moreover, an analysis of the circulated video reveals irregularities in voice and surrounding environment, which are typically observed in AI-generated content.
Additionally, when the video was tested using the AI content detection platform “Cantilux,” it showed a 94 percent probability of being AI-generated.
Based on this evidence, it is confirmed that the video was created using AI or artificial intelligence technology.
Therefore, the video being circulated online as a genuine statement by the Chief of Army Staff, paying tribute to the martyred police on “August 5, Police Killing Day,” is false and artificially generated.
