The Awami League has announced various programs, including a month-long hartal in February, demanding the resignation of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government. In response, multiple fake photo cards have been circulating on Facebook, falsely claiming that the opposition parties, BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, have no objections to these programs. However, a FactWatch investigation confirms that both the photo cards and the claims they make are fabricated.

One such fake photo card features a statement attributed to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. It presents a quote resembling the BBC Bangla format, stating, "Awami League has the right to announce programs. We believe in democratic values and do not support the suppression of any party’s political rights." A search of BBC Bangla’s website and Facebook page reveals no such content. Additionally, mainstream media sources contain no record of Mirza Fakhrul making such a statement.

Another fake photo card mimics the style of Dainik Kaler Kantho, falsely quoting the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami as saying, "We do not want to obstruct Awami League’s programs." However, a thorough search of Kaler Kantho’s website and social media pages finds no evidence of such a publication. In contrast, Kaler Kantho has issued a warning, clarifying that the photo card circulating in its name is fake. Furthermore, no mainstream media outlets have reported any statements supporting this claim. Based on these findings, Fact-Watch has identified these photo cards as false.
