The claim that recent discussions were held with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar concerning the Constitution of Bangladesh, particularly Article 312, is false. A Facebook account under the name Tamanna Akhter Yesman published several photos with the caption, “Recently participated in an important discussion with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Fact-check

Rumor Scanner’s investigation revealed that the photos circulated do not depict any recent discussion between the Indian External Affairs Minister and anyone regarding the Constitution of Bangladesh. In reality, the photo is from a meeting held in 2024 between India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, during her official visit to India.

A reverse image search led to a post from the official ‘DD News’ account on X, dated April 30, 2024, which carried the caption: “EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar meets #UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy. Both leaders discuss further steps in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Also exchanged perspectives on the regional and global situation. @MEAIndia.” One of the photos published in this post exactly matches one of the images circulated with the false claim.

Further verification traced an April 30, 2024 report published on the website of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), titled in translation, “Reem Al Hashimy: Our strategic relationship with India is historic and strong.”

The report states that Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the Republic of India on April 29–30, 2024. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen bilateral relations within the framework of the two countries’ strategic partnership. During her stay in New Delhi, Reem Al Hashimy met with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The two leaders discussed how to further strengthen bilateral relations, and also exchanged views on the impact of current regional and global developments on peace and security. Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, the UAE’s Ambassador to India, was also present during the meeting.

Therefore, a photo taken during Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy’s official visit to India in 2024 and her meeting with the Indian External Affairs Minister has been falsely circulated with the claim that it shows a recent discussion on the Constitution of Bangladesh with Minister S. Jaishankar. This claim is false.
