A recruitment notice bearing the logo of ATN Bangla, claiming that “journalist recruitment is ongoing nationwide at ATN Bangla,” has recently been circulated on the social media platform Facebook.

The notice lists several positions that allegedly offer employment opportunities across the country, including staff reporter, crime reporter, special correspondent, mobile correspondent, upazila correspondent, and campus correspondent. It further states that applications must be submitted only via WhatsApp to the number 01963151028, with the deadline set for August 18, 2025.

Fact-check

An investigation conducted by the Rumor Scanner team has revealed that the recruitment post is fake. The name of ATN Bangla has been used in a misleading manner with the intent to deceive.

At the outset of the investigation, Rumor Scanner attempted to contact the number mentioned in the circulated post, but found it inactive. Subsequently, no related job circular was found on ATN Bangla’s official Facebook page or website.

However, a post made on August 14 by Ali Asgar Imon, Assistant Vice President and Special Correspondent at ATN Bangla, was found on his personal Facebook account. In the caption of that post, he confirmed that the widely circulated recruitment notice is fake and clarified that “ATN Bangla authorities have not issued any such job circular.”

Additionally, a video report titled “Fraudulent journalism and recruitment in the name of ATN Bangla! Authorities issue warning” was published on ATN Bangla’s official Facebook page on August 16. The report urged the public to remain cautious regarding the false recruitment notice and requested that the individuals responsible be brought under legal action. It also reported that a group is engaged in fraudulent activities by advertising fake job postings for journalist and staff recruitment at the organization.

Therefore, the recruitment notice circulated on Facebook under the claim that ATN Bangla is hiring journalists across the country is false and fabricated.
