Recently, a video titled “Breaking – According to Al Jazeera News, India’s Iron Dome defense system has completely failed to intercept Pakistani missiles. All Pakistani missiles successfully hit their targets. Pakistan devastated India with missile strikes—India starts taking hits!!! Understand that this is not defenseless Palestine. This is Pakistan, another Muslim country. See where the real rage belongs,” has been widely circulated on social media platforms.

Fact-check

Rumor Scanner Team's investigation reveals that the video being circulated with the claim “Pakistani missiles devastated India” is not related to any India-Pakistan conflict. Instead, it shows footage from a fire that broke out near Taltola Market in Khilgaon, Dhaka, on 21 February this year. This footage is being falsely presented in the context of the recent viral claim.

As part of the verification process, a video published on the Facebook page of the mainstream Bangladeshi electronic media outlet Somoy TV on 21 February was located. The visuals in that video match the content of the one being circulated with the false claim.

The video confirms that a fire broke out at a sawmill adjacent to Taltola Market in Khilgaon, Dhaka. Multiple local media outlets (1, 2) have published video reports on the incident. According to a report published on the same date, 21 February 2025, on the website of the daily Jugantor, the fire initially erupted at a sawmill next to Taltola Market in the capital’s Khilgaon area. It rapidly spread to a nearby garage, setting several vehicles on fire and causing a series of gas cylinder explosions.

Therefore, a scene from a fire incident that occurred in a sawmill in Dhaka last February has been misrepresented on social media as recent footage of an India-Pakistan military conflict, which is false.
